location it's near metro station but far away from city centre. Air conditioned room. Daily cleaning is available. You get what you paid. Prepare for your amenity needed. The check-in thing is a bit time-consuming. fortunately I've received help from an assistant/ worker of the property, otherwise I couldn't make it.

Affordable Stay with Room for Improvement

We stayed at Hostal Athenas for 7 nights. Hostal Athenas is located at the heart of Sant Adrià de Besòs and is conveniently located right near the Artigues-Sant Adrià metro station, which is about a 3 minute walk away. There are plenty of different cafes/bars nearby for an inexpensive breakfast/lunch/dinner.
The reception is not often manned so there is an automatic check-in machine outside, it was quite easy to process and check in.
We had 2 rooms during our stay as we requested to move as our first room (202) had an adjoining room and it was very noisy from the adjoining room. Also, the fridge did not work, and the Television was tiny. We were moved to room 308, which was slightly better regarding the noise, and had a fridge that worked and a larger TV. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room, they are located in a little communal area on the 1st floor.
The room was a decent size, with a kitchen sink, microwave and cutlery so you can easily make your own food there. The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable, maybe on the hard side and there was no proper duvet, just a thin sheet. However, the main problem was with the bathroom, it had drainage in the floor of the bathroom which must have been blocked as every time you used the sink, water would seep up from this drain, this must have been a problem for a long time because the bottom of the bathroom door was full of damp. This also caused a quite horrible smell. The sink itself was tiny, too small for me to be able to do anything comfortably.
The more positive aspects of the room were that Wi-Fi was good with a stable connection and the air conditioning worked well.
The cleaning service was good and was done every time we left the notice on the door and even when it wasn’t they knocked on the door and asked if we wanted anything doing.
Overall, the best thing about this Hostal was its proximity to a metro station. We would probably stay here again unless there were better options.

Thanks for giving your opinion about your stay at Hostal Athenas. We are sorry about the things you were not so happy about. We appreciate guests opinions, that help us improve.
Just to point out a couple of things: all the fridges work (we check them when we do the cleaning) but you need to turn them on; the tv is small, but this is an extra service we are not obliged to have and hardly no one uses it really.

They threw away my belongings and the hostel is in an insecure area

I forgot clothes in the room at check-out and when I contacted them, they told me that “if there’s anything left, it’s assumed that the guest doesn’t want it, and he throws himself.” Unbelievable.
No notice, no custody, not even the slightest intention of helping. A totally irresponsible management without professionalism.
In addition, the hostel is located in a rather unsafe area of Barcelona, especially at night. There are frequent robberies, people loitering, and you're not comfortable going out with your belongings.
❌ Bad experience. I will not return and do not recommend it under any circumstances.

Lamento que no pudieses recuperar tus pertenencias. Tal vez si nos hubieras contactado el mismo día podríamos haberlo revisado . ¿De que prendas estamos hablando ? Si se trataba de ropa interior sucia es posible que no la hayan guardado, no nos consta que hubieras dejado nada ya que si se da el caso que alguien olvida sus pertenencias, siempre contactamos con el cliente. En relación a la inseguridad, es sólo tu percepción, Otros clientes nos valoran positivamente en ese aspecto. La presencia de gente en la calle por la noche aumenta la seguridad además de la guardia urbana, mossos d'escuadra y policía nacional que tiene la comisaría en nuestra misma calle a menos de 20 metros del Hostal.

The hotel is close to a major supermarket. However, the facilities and the WiFi connection were quite poor.
