Hidden Gem

As a solo female traveller in her 50s I couldn't have been happier with my experience at Hotel Wandl. It really is a hidden gem. The location was perfect and I walked to most of the main sites. The luxury shopping streets are steps away. Atmosphere: Charming and elegant. Walk outside the door and you are greeted by a stunning church and horse carriages. Rooms: My room was small but comfortable and it had everything I needed. I had plenty of room to open up my suitcase and hang my clothes (which some single rooms lack). It provided a relaxing, quiet and welcoming retreat for the 12km+ walks that I ended up doing most days! It was spotlessly clean which I appreciated and it was incredibly quiet considering its location.
The staff were all friendly- the check-in staff, the cleaners, the breakfast staff and especially the lovely porter who was always ready to help and provide a smile ( I'm sorry but I didn't get your name). Breakfast was great. I even had bubbles one morning :-)
I'm thrilled I came across Hotel Wandl in my research because it was amazing. I would return there in an instant and can't wait to go back there again one day soon. Thank you for making my stay in Vienna so memorable

All great. Location, installations, staff, etc. Only tiny thing to remark about the staff is that they could be a bit warmer. I spent one week there and every time I passed in front of reception, people there didn't even lift their eyes to say hi. I felt it a bit impersonal. But everything else was super!

The Wandl is a gem in terms of location and experience

The Wandl is a hidden gem. It is located in the most central of places in Vienna - less than 5 minutes from Stephans church; the public spaces are beautiful and restful with a lobby in which you can sit and relax and with newspapers which you can read, most notably, the N.Y. Times; the breakfast is generous and varied with eggs, cheeses, breads, fruits, cakes, yoghurts, cereals; the ;plumbing is excellent; the cleanliness superlative.It is my home away from home in vienna and it never disappoints. If you can get a room overlooking the church opposite, this adds to the experience and in my room there was an espresso machine. The best evidence of the excellence of this hotel is that I keep coming back to it over a period of many years.

A pleasant stay

Staff were overall friendly and helpful. Norbert took time to explain us the history of Hotel Wandl, and this is much appreciated. The cleaning Lady Lily was very client orientated and helpful, did an amazing job cleaning the rooms. Lily was very welcoming and gave us a warm greeting every day she was working, making us feel welcome. At breakfast the gentleman Moses, as well as another very young lady (black hair, slim, with tatoo) were both extremely helpful and hardworking. When they were off we noticed a drop in service levels. It would have been better if breakfast items were replenished. There were multiple occasions were the Chia seed and sliced grapefruits ran out and were not replaced, or replaced late and in in very small quantities.
Unfortunately, the WiFi was defective for most of our stay.
Our room was basic without fridge and had no balcony, but was comfortable and clean. Towels, soap, etc were available daily. The Hotel location was excellent 5 min walk from Stephans Platz. Overall, would stay again for shorter trips.

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Vienna !

We had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Wandl and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vienna. The experience was fantastic, though adding one small in-room amenity would make it absolutely perfect.
Location: Unbeatable. It sits just steps away from St. Stephen's Cathedral. We walked everywhere easily.
Atmosphere: Charming and elegant. The hotel beautifully blends historic Viennese architecture with modern design.
Rooms: Spacious, modern, and very comfortable. The bed offered an excellent night's sleep.Value: Great value for money. The premium location and high quality justify the price completely.
Cleanliness: Spotless. Every corner of the property and our room was impeccably clean.
Noise level: Remarkably quiet. Despite being in the bustling city center, our room was a peaceful oasis.
Service: Outstanding. The staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and always ready to help.
Amenities: Good, but with room for improvement. Our only real suggestion is to provide small clothes steamers in the rooms. We needed to iron a few clothes before heading out to an opera night. To do this, I had to use the hotel's designated storage room where they keep the iron and ironing board. It was a bit inconvenient to haul our formal wear back and forth.We loved our time here and will definitely choose Hotel Wandl again for our next Viennese adventure!
