Skada Stay
Hotel Skada is directly opposite Koln Messe/Deutz railway station, in a great location for Koln Triangle observation deck and Lanxess Arena, Rheinpark is within walking distance and only 1k away from Kolner Dom.
The hotel itself was clean, has decent sized room's and good working bathroom facilities.
The only downside was not much storage space in the room's but other than that, a great price and would recommend for a budget stay.

My room was on the 5th floor. I started walking up and got the lift at floor 2.
When I got to the 5th floor it wasn’t very bright and the automatic lighting took a few seconds to kick in. When I find my room I struggled to open it with the electronic tag thing.
The room was exceptionally tired, the curtains didn’t even cover the window and the door did not feel secure.
I am a female travelling on my own I did not feel safe. This was compounded by the number of homeless people on the street outside the building and very near by station. In my extensive years of travelling to Cologne I have never felt vulnerable but I did at The Skala
Inside the room there isn’t an Emergancy reception number visible for any issues. I didn’t have any option but to leave and feel safe while it was still day light. There was no way I would want to come back to the hotel in the dark after dinner. As I left two men were trying to get into the front door with out a key and were asking me to let them in which confirmed I had to leave.
I eventually found a contact number on the Booking.com confirmation email by this time I had checked out and walked to a different hotel by the Dom which has 24hr reception and felt much more secure.
Lesson learn, while I don’t spend long in a hotel room I just sleep and shower. Buying a cheap room has cost me two. The hotel declined to refund me and I lost my booking money

Disgusting for 145 euros per night
Missing smoke detectors
Broken tiles
No fire curtains
Broken faucet and shower rod....
After the 1. NIGHT Ejection without reason....
No violation of the occupancy agreement

OK for a night near the railway station
On the negative side: It was advertised as serving breakfast but no breakfast was available. I was told that there were a number of bäkerei offering breakfast nearby. They were, in fact, some distance away. The lavatory and shower room did not have doors.
